The most underrated skill in high-performance sport

High Performance Director Devan McConnell recently sparked engagement on LinkedIn (see post here) by highlighting what he sees as the most underrated skill in high-performance sports: the art of doing less, but doing it better.
McConnell points out that in professional sports, the tendency often leans toward adding more—more technology, more metrics, more training sessions, and more information. However, he argues that gaining a competitive edge today is less about accumulation and more about elimination.
He asserts that for high-performance environments to thrive truly, it’s essential to cut through the noise, simplify decision-making, and clarify priorities. McConnell believes that the best teams in the world are those that consistently do the right things with clarity and purpose. So perhaps the key isn’t just about doing more; perhaps it’s really about getting better at doing less!

Using AiKYNETIX to evaluate running performance and a PROMO CODE!

We recently highlighted the exciting emergence of AiKYNETIX and its innovative blend of biomechanics and AI, which could truly transform the landscape of sports science (see here). Recently, AiKYNETIX shared an insightful video on LinkedIn featuring two-time Olympian and US marathon record holder Emily Sisson. In just a short clip of Sisson running, the AiKYNETIX app was able to deliver detailed feedback on her cadence, contact time, flight time, upper trunk range of motion, and power output!
Additionally, AiKYNETIX reached out to us at SFS Weekly and generously offered a promo code, SFSWEEKLY20, that grants two weeks of free access, five complimentary video analyses, and a 20% discount on any subscription for the first three months (with the flexibility to cancel at any time). If you’re interested in exploring AiKYNETIX, now is the perfect time to take advantage of this opportunity. Act quickly, though—the promo code is only valid for the first 30 users!
Promo code is SFSWEEKLY20
The benefits of the Keiser Squat Pro for ACL rehabilitation

Bram Swinnen recently shared an insightful breakdown on LinkedIn about his use of the Keiser Squat Pro machine in the initial phases of ACL rehabilitation. In the post, he highlights the advantages of performing Bulgarian split squats on this machine, which provides added postural support and balance. This allows individuals to effectively engage their quadriceps while executing the exercise.
Swinnen also explains how he utilises the Keiser Squat Pro to measure movement speed. He has his participants perform the exercise at a pace of 0.65 to 0.75 meters per second, which equates to roughly 75-80% of their one-rep maximum. This approach enables him to create an optimal stimulus for participants without needing to conduct a one-rep max test—a practice not recommended during ACL rehabilitation.
This post is definitely worth a viewing, offering valuable insights into the functionality of the Keiser Squat Pro and its application in ACL rehabilitation. If you would like to learn more about ACL rehabilitation, our course ACL Rehab by the excellent Shane Lehane is a game-changer!
